New York Times bestselling author Craig Johnson will visit the Visalia Branch Library on Thursday, Jan. 18, to discuss his popular book series and TV show.
Author of the “Longmire” mystery books, Johnson’s presentation will begin at 6 p.m. followed by a book signing session, according to a news release from the Tulare County Library. Books will also be available for purchase and signing by Johnson.
Johnson will also discuss his latest book, “The Longmire Defense.”
‘Longmire’s’ Multiple Awards Span a 25-Book Series
The “Longmire” books follow Walt Longmire, sheriff of a fictional Wyoming county. Throughout the 25 books and short stories, Longmire solves mysteries set in the modern-day West.
The first book in the series, “The Cold Dish,” was published in 2004. By 2012, A&E debuted the six-season “Longmire” show starring Robert Taylor as the titular sheriff. The show also stars Lou Diamond Phillips.
A&E produced the first three seasons before Netflix picked it up, producing the final three seasons.
Johnson has won several awards for the various books, including the Western Writers of America Spur Award for fiction. His novella, the “Spirit of Steamboat” was the first One Book Wyoming selection.
The library is at 200 W. Oak Avenue.
