The Community Media Access Collaborative is hosting its first Pride Media Lab, a video production training program for members of Fresno’s LGBTQ+ community.

Pride Media Lab is a two-month production course in which five selected participants will learn how to plan, shoot, and edit short-form documentary and news-style packages.

As a cohort, the participants will produce a short documentary that showcases local LGBTQ+ leaders and their contributions to the community.

The training, led by Education and Program Coordinator Angelica Hernandez, will run from September to November.

An Opportunity to Build Storytelling Skills

CMAC aims to give Fresno’s LGBTQ+ community the opportunity to connect and collaborate on a project that highlights their struggles and achievements, while building their storytelling skills.

At the end of the program, CMAC will host a public showcase to celebrate the group’s work and screen the final film. CMAC will announce the time and date of the event this fall.

The film will receive regional distribution across CMAC’s multi-platform network, including local channels and worldwide on their website. It will also be available across multiple streaming platforms.

Additionally, participants will receive a $750 stipend and a free one-year CMAC membership. CMAC members gain access to media tools and training in the art of visual storytelling.

Pride Media Lab is made possible by the city of Fresno’s LGBTQ+ Services Grant.

CMAC Application Deadline, Requirements, and Further Information

Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 30, reside within the City of Fresno, and identify as LGBTQ+. CMAC does not require any prior experience to participate.
