Sanger police arrested a suspected gang member after a traffic stop Monday evening led to the discovery of a loaded handgun.

Officers pulled over a vehicle near Annadale and I streets around 7 p.m. and observed signs of impairment from the driver, prompting a DUI investigation.

During the stop, a loaded .38-caliber handgun was found inside the vehicle.

Michael Maldonado, suspected of belonging to the Bulldog Gang, was arrested and booked on DUI and weapons charges, police said.

The seizure marks the 10th illegal firearm recovered by the Sanger Police Department in the past 35 days.
