Authorities have identified a suspect in a 2022 cold case homicide, leading to new murder and gang-related charges against a man already serving time in state prison.
Isael Reynoso, 27, was identified by the Visalia Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit following follow-up investigations in 2026. The Tulare County District Attorney’s Office has formally filed charges against him.
The charges stem from the Jan. 24, 2022, shooting of 40-year-old Juan Carlos Viera.
Officers responding to a report of a shooting at 8:19 p.m. found Viera in the front yard of a residence on the 200 block of East Houston Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds. He later died from his injuries.
Reynoso is currently incarcerated in the California State Prison system for crimes unrelated to the homicide.
