A 58-year-old man was arrested after deputies responding to reports of gunfire in Taft seized 13 firearms from his home, authorities said.

Kern County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched Sept. 7 to the 28000 block of Chaparral Avenue for a shots-fired call, the sheriff’s office said Tuesday.

Witnesses identified James Dye as the suspect, and deputies later executed a search warrant at his residence, where they found the firearms and ammunition.

Dye was booked into the Lerdo jail on suspicion of willful discharge of a firearm in a grossly negligent manner.
