The Salt 14-2 wildfire, which ignited last week near Jacalitos Creek Road in Coalinga, has burned 25,580 acres across Fresno and Monterey counties and is 40% contained, CalFire reported Tuesday.

Fire officials said a cooling trend and higher humidity are expected to aid firefighters, who have established control lines around much of the fire perimeter and continue to mop up interior hot spots.

One structure has been threatened, but officials haven’t reported any destroyed or damaged buildings.

Evacuation Orders, Warnings, and Road Closures

Evacuation orders are in place for zones P18B2, P18B3, P24B2, P25, P27A1, P28, and MRY-G041-A.

Evacuation warnings cover zones P18B1, P24B1, P27A2, and MRY-G041-B.

Road closures include Parkfield Grade at State Route 198 and Jacalitos Creek Road at West Lost Hills Road. Some areas restricted to residents only, including South Merced Avenue at Lucille Avenue and Oak Street at Parkfield Coalinga Road in Monterey County.

Firefighting efforts involve 1,657 personnel, 94 engines, 52 water tenders, 41 bulldozers, 42 hand crews, and eight helicopters.

Aircraft continue to grid the interior of the fire to identify and suppress hot spots.

CalFire officials said damage inspection teams are assessing structures in the affected area.
