A Redding man found guilty of repeatedly abusing his two children for years at their northwest Redding home was sentenced to 830 years to life in prison, plus 4 years, plus two life prison sentences.
In late July, a Shasta County jury found Timothy Thomas Taylor, 58, guilty on all counts and special allegations, including a total of 60 felony charges, the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office said.
Taylor was convicted of numerous sex abuse charges involving minors as well as torture and assault with a deadly weapon.
In late July 2023, Shasta County detectives said in an announcement that they’d “learned Taylor had been sexually abusing one” of his children “since she was 14 years old. One of the incidents of abuse was particularly egregious and was determined to be an act of torture.”
Taylor was arrested during a traffic stop on Pine Grove Avenue near Shasta Lake, the sheriff’s office reported at that time.
According to the sheriff’s office, the crimes took place over a span of nearly 30 years and involved multiple victims. At sentencing, victims and family members shared powerful impact statements with the court.
