A small terrier mix named Tuesday is getting a second chance at life after narrowly avoiding euthanasia at a local shelter.
The 14-pound pup, believed to be about a year and a half old and possibly part Chihuahua, was found as a stray and brought to the shelter visibly terrified. Staff said she cowered in the corner of her kennel, shaking and too scared to let anyone touch her.
When Tuesday’s mandatory stray hold expired, she was at immediate risk of being euthanized due to her extreme fear. But thanks to the efforts of a local rescue group and a compassionate foster home, Tuesday was pulled from the shelter just in time.
Now in a home environment, Tuesday is slowly coming out of her shell. She’s warming up to people, enjoys the company of other dogs, and is beginning to learn how to walk on a leash.
Rescuers say Tuesday will need a patient family willing to give her time to adjust, but they’re confident she’ll become a loyal and loving companion.
