A Madera County teenager survived a suspected drug overdose Tuesday after deputies administered Narcan, authorities said.

The Madera County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a possible overdose involving a female juvenile at a residence.

When they arrived, deputies used Narcan, a medication that reverses opioid overdoses, and the girl became responsive before being transported to a local hospital for treatment.

During the investigation, detectives with the Madera County Sheriff’s Office and the Madera County Narcotic Enforcement Team found what appeared to be Xanax pills near the victim.

Officials warned that counterfeit prescription pills often contain fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid linked to deadly overdoses.

Deputies later arrested Seth Prince, 20, of Ahwahnee, on felony charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and multiple counts of resisting an executive officer after he allegedly became combative with detectives.

Narcan is available without a prescription at pharmacies, drug stores, and online retailers, authorities said.
