Officers responded to the area of Gettysburg Avenue and First Street shortly after 1:30 a.m. Sunday after receiving reports of gunfire and a ShotSpotter activation indicating four rounds had been fired, the Fresno Police Department said in a statement.
Investigators determined the shooting stemmed from an argument the day before between the victim and the suspect, identified as Steven Flores Estrada.
The suspect allegedly told the victim he would return at a later time.

The following morning, Estrada returned to the victim’s home, demanding that he come outside, police said.
When the victim refused, several gunshots were fired, striking the exterior wall of an apartment three times. Officers found evidence of the shooting but did not immediately locate a suspect.
Detectives identified Estrada as the suspect on Tuesday and located him two days later at a residence near Madison and Maple avenues.

As officers ordered occupants to exit the home, Estrada ran from a detached garage toward the rear alley and resisted arrest, police said. He was taken into custody with the assistance of a police canine.
During a search of the residence, officers recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting. Estrada was booked into Fresno County Jail on multiple charges related to the incident.
