An at-risk missing man reported missing last week was found dead Saturday in the Sequoia National Forest, Visalia police said.

Manuel Mendoza, 72, was discovered near his vehicle at approximately 10 a.m., according to authorities.
Detectives had been working to locate Mendoza since he was reported missing on Thursday.

Investigators initially focused on the Delano area, where evidence suggested he may have traveled, but no leads emerged.
The department, in collaboration with the California Highway Patrol, had initiated efforts to issue a Silver Alert, which was still pending at the time of the discovery of his body.

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation, although no foul play is suspected, authorities reported.
