A man was hospitalized with a stab wound Thursday night after a large fight erupted near K Street and San Joaquin Avenue in Tulare, the Tulare Police Department said in a statement.

Officers initially responded to reports of gunfire in the area but determined no shots had been fired.

Instead, a physical altercation among a large group of men caused people to scatter, according to authorities.

A man was found at the scene with a stab wound and taken to a local hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, authorities said.

Detectives are investigating the incident as a possible gang-related fight. No suspects are in custody, and the victim’s name has not been released.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Tulare Police Department.
