A Madera County Sheriff’s Office K-9 and a suspect were injured Wednesday in an officer-involved shooting following a hit-and-run investigation in Oakhurst, according to authorities.

Deputies responded to a report of a hit-and-run on Road 425B, where the encounter with the suspect led to gunfire, according to the statement.

Both the suspect and the K-9 were struck during the exchange.

Authorities have not released further details about the condition of those involved or the circumstances leading to the shooting.

The sheriff’s office said updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
