A driver suspected of being under the influence crashed into a California Highway Patrol car early Sunday, officials said.
Officers were investigating another fatal crash in Fresno County when the driver struck the patrol car.

Jaime Sandoval, 25, of Kerman, was identified as the driver by the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.
The officers had been outside the vehicle at the time and were uninjured.

Sandoval, who sustained only minor injuries, was evaluated at the scene before being taken into custody, the CHP said.
Sandoval, who was previously arrested for DUI in 2018, was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.

He was released four hours later with a citation and a scheduled court appearance, according to authorities.
