A 19-year-old Hanford resident is in stable condition following a shooting, the Kings County Sheriff’s Department reported.

Deputies from the Kings County Sheriff’s Office responded shortly after midnight on Thursday to reports of a gunshot victim near Jeff Road and Thomas Court, within the Santa Rosa Rancheria.

Deputies found the victim with a gunshot wound to his right abdomen, a collapsed lung, and a grazing wound on his right cheek.

Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and described the suspect as a male Hispanic or Native American adult, approximately 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall, weighing between 190 to 230 pounds, with long black hair and armed with a pistol, according to authorities.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

Witnesses also reported seeing two individuals — a male and a female — fleeing the scene, authorities said.

Santa Rosa Rancheria Department of Public Safety personnel monitored the suspects via video surveillance, which led deputies to locate them running through the parking lot of the Tachi Palace Casino Resort.

When arrested, officers found a loaded 9mm handgun in the males possession, which had its serial number scratched off.

Investigators later confirmed that the male suspect is a juvenile wanted for a homicide that occurred in Hanford on October 23.

He was taken to the Kings County Juvenile Center, where he was booked on charges of illegal weapons possession and homicide.

The juvenile female suspect was turned over to Child Protective Services.
