Isaac Cardenas, 17, escaped from custody on Thursday afternoon while under the supervision of the Fresno County Probation Department, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office reported in a social media post.

Cardenas is described as 5-foot-9, weighing 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black short-sleeved shirt, beige sweatpants, and black Jordan shoes.

Authorities warn that Cardenas has a history of violent crimes and should be considered dangerous. The public is advised not to approach him.

Cardenas initially was being booked into the Juvenile Justice Campus, but he did not clear the medical evaluation. He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center for further examination and managed to flee from the transport vehicle.

The Fresno County Probation Department notified local law enforcement following the escape and emphasized that all available resources are being utilized in the search effort.

“We are taking this matter very seriously and are working diligently with our law enforcement partners to apprehend the individual,” said Chief Probation Officer Kirk Haynes. “We are also conducting a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding the escape to prevent future occurrences.”

Got a Tip?

Anyone with information on Cardenas’ whereabouts is urged to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867). Tips can also be submitted anonymously online at www.valleycrimestoppers.org.
