A Fresno chocolatier is launching a limited run of sweet treats to support a good cause.
Sales from A’cappella Chocolate’s new line of Kabalagala Clusters will support the African Children’s Choir, a Christian organization supporting music and education in Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, and South Africa.
“We are thrilled to launch this initiative with A’cappella Chocolates and partner with Music For Life and the African Children’s Choir,” said Max Debbas, strategic brand manager for Fresno-based A’capella. “This collaboration allows us to blend our passion for creating exceptional confections with our commitment to making a positive impact in the world.”

Bananas, Chocolate, and a Touch of Pepper
The company began taking orders for the chocolate clusters on Sept. 6.
The inspiration for the treat came from a Ugandan staple — a banana pancake called kabalagala. The company covered a chewy dried banana in milk chocolate and crunchy banana chips, finishing it with a little bit of pepper powder.
The company is selling two canisters for $60, but they’re only taking 1,500 orders for the treat. The goal is to raise $30,000 for the mission.
Now in its 40th year, the African Children’s Choir is a kid’s camp that takes children on tour to sing around the world.
A’cappella Chocolate makes a variety of organic, sustainable sweets under its umbrella company Made in Nature.
On Facebook, Debbas said he chose the children’s choir after researching the company.
“The African Children’s Choir is more than just a musical group; it’s a beacon of hope. Composed of children 7-12, many orphaned and all born into extreme poverty,” Debbas wrote. “These young children radiate an infectious joy; they are the sweetest, most gentle, loving, happy children I have ever met.”
