The Basin Fire continues to grow rapidly with 0% containment as of Monday afternoon, according to Sierra National Forest officials.

The fire’s expansion was primarily observed on the western edge and northwest corner Sunday.

Firefighting crews managed to access the western flank via a newly improved road, successfully containing a spot fire near Lower Rancheria Creek and integrating it with the main blaze.

879 personnel are on the scene, supported by 51 engines and seven helicopters, battling the flames.

Evacuation Orders and Warnings

A mandatory evacuation order is in place for Fresno County zones K29, K30, K31, and K40, with zones K41 and K166 newly added to the list (northeast side of Pine Flat Reservoir).

Evacuation warnings are in effect for zones K61 and K76. Zones K29, K30, K31, and K40 remain under the evacuation warnings issued last week.

Residents are urged to consult the Fresno County Evacuation map at https://www.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=e7d6006a016a444db8b210ac4d2eb5cf for detailed information.

Temporary Fire Restrictions and Forest Closure

In response to the fire, the Sierra National Forest has implemented new temporary fire restrictions prohibiting campfires, welding, and smoking in non-developed campsites.

Full details of the restrictions and Forest Order can be found at https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/sierra/alerts-notices.

Additionally, a Temporary Partial Forest Closure Order for the Basin Fire has been issued, effective from June 30, 2024, to July 30, 2024. The public is urged to respect all closure signs and barriers to ensure safety and prevent interference with firefighting efforts. More information is available at https://www.fs.usda.gov/sierra.

Forest visitors should note that the closure may impact Fourth of July holiday plans, as campgrounds and trails within the closure area will be inaccessible.

Road closure signs have been placed on the fire perimeter.

Before traveling, the public should review which roads are closed, as no one will be allowed to enter zones under evacuation warnings. For comprehensive details on evacuation orders, road closures, and emergency resources, visit http://www.fresnocountyemergency.com.
