Police are asking for the public’s help finding a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run Sunday morning.

Hanford police officers responded around 8:30 a.m. to the area of Leland Way and 9 ¼ Avenue after receiving a report of a person down.

Officers found a deceased adult man near the intersection with injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle, police said. No vehicle was found at the scene.

Investigators determined the man had been walking in the area between 6:20 and 6:40 a.m. when he was struck by a vehicle. Police said the driver immediately fled without stopping.

Investigators are searching for a silver 2006-2008 Toyota RAV4 believed to have moderate front-end damage.

Police are asking residents and businesses in the surrounding area to review surveillance footage that may have captured the collision or the vehicle.
