Galaxy Theatres is taking over the recently closed Maya Cinemas location at Fresno’s Campus Pointe, expanding the company’s operations in the Central Valley, where Galaxy says its story began.

Galaxy announced it will assume operations of the multi-screen  theater and plans to make the transition with minimal disruption to daily operations, allowing moviegoers to continue attending screenings during the changeover.

Galaxy said it plans to introduce upgrades and enhancements to the theater in the near future, although the company did not provide details about what those changes will include.

“Our focus from day one is on the guest experience,” said Rafe Cohen, president and COO of Galaxy Theatres. “We’re excited about the potential of this theatre and look forward to investing in the property, our team, and the Fresno community.”

The company said additional details about the planned improvements and its official arrival in Fresno will be announced later.

Galaxy operates theaters in Tulare, Porterville, and Riverbank. Fresno will be its 16th in all, as the company also has theaters in Nevada, Texas, and Washington.
