Florida transportation officials are revoking permits for license plate readers, including Flock cameras, along state highways because of privacy concerns and reports of misuse, ABC News reported.

The Florida Department of Transportation said local law enforcement agencies must remove permitted cameras within 30 days or the state will remove them. Officials also said no new permits will be issued.

The move follows cases in Massachusetts and Louisiana where officers were accused of improperly using Flock systems.

Flock cameras capture license plates and vehicle characteristics. The company recently announced tighter search requirements and reduced data retention from 30 days to seven.
