A team of seven young athletes from Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County is competing in the NFL FLAG Championships beginning today in Westfield, Indiana.
Members from the West Fresno and Selma Clubs qualified for the national stage after winning the San Francisco 49ers NFL FLAG Regionals in March.
Notably, Fresno is the lone Boys & Girls Club team in the nation to make it to the title tournament.
Continuing the positive vibes: Community support covered all travel and tournament expenses, allowing the players to compete at no cost to their families.

First-Year Team
“This is an awesome experience for these kids to be here. We started less than five months ago and to be at a national tournament this early in their career is just fantastic,” said Ron Zisler, operations director and flag football head coach for Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County.
“These kids worked hard over the last five months to earn the right to be here.”
The NFL FLAG Championships Presented by Toyota is hosted by the NFL, ESPN, and RCX Sports and is one of the world’s premier youth flag football tournaments.
More than 350 boys’ and girls’ teams from the U.S. and 12 other countries compete in the four-day event.
There will be a welcome home celebration for the team Monday evening at Fresno Yosemite International Airport.
