A man was arrested on multiple felony domestic violence-related charges after an incident Tuesday involving his girlfriend, according to the Fresno Police Department.
Officers were dispatched to a report regarding a domestic physical disturbance involving Jorge Corona Avila and a victim who were in a dating relationship, police said.
Police said Corona Avila pushed the victim against a wall multiple times, pulled her by the hair from a bedroom into a living room, and held her down by the wrists on the ground. The victim attempted to get away but was unable to do so, according to police.
The suspect then strangled the victim, police said.
Authorities said Corona Avila later released the victim, who attempted to call police. He then allegedly grabbed her phone and threw it to the ground, shattering it.
Corona Avila was arrested on multiple felony domestic violence-related charges and booked into the Fresno County Jail, according to police.
