A stolen vehicle investigation in Tulare County led to the arrest of a wanted parolee Thursday evening, the Visalia Police Department reported.

Members of the Tulare Regional Auto Theft Task Force and Visalia Police Department property crimes detectives located a stolen vehicle around 7 p.m. in the 600 block of Beacon Avenue in the Matheny Tract area outside Tulare, according to police.

Detectives observed Cody Ferguson, 31, exiting the vehicle. When officers attempted to contact him, Ferguson ran and ignored repeated commands to stop, police said.

Authorities said Ferguson attempted to enter a nearby residence while trying to flee and resisted arrest. Detectives deployed a less-lethal device and took him into custody without further incident.

Ferguson was transported for medical clearance and is expected to be booked on suspicion of unlawful taking or driving of a vehicle, a parole hold and resisting arrest, police said.

Police identified Ferguson as a wanted parolee. No additional details were immediately released.
