President Donald Trump sharply criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a phone call Monday over Israel’s escalation in Lebanon, Axios reported, citing two U.S. officials and a third source briefed on the conversation.

One official told Axios that Trump warned Netanyahu against carrying out threats to strike Beirut, arguing it would further isolate Israel internationally and jeopardize ongoing U.S.-Iran nuclear negotiations.

According to Axios, Trump told Netanyahu, “You’re f**king crazy,” and accused him of escalating the conflict disproportionately.

An Israeli official later told Axios that Israel no longer plans to strike Hezbollah targets in Beirut. Netanyahu said Israel’s position remains unchanged.
