The Clovis Police Department will conduct a driving under the influence checkpoint at an undisclosed location in the city on Thursday evening.

“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” Traffic Supervisor Sgt. Abby Padgett said in a statement. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improve traffic safety.”

Police encouraged the public to call 911 to report suspected DUI or reckless drivers.

Funding for the checkpoint was provided through a grant from the California Highway Patrol’s Cannabis Tax Grant Program.
