Pedestrian Killed in Collision Near Selma Intersection, Police Say

A man was struck and killed by a vehicle near Whitson and First Street in Selma on Monday morning, and police said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

A man died Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle near an intersection in Selma, according to police.

Selma police officers responded to a traffic collision near Whitson and First streets at about 8 a.m. Monday. Officers determined that an adult man had been hit by a vehicle at or near the intersection and died from his injuries, police said.

The driver remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with the investigation, according to the Selma Police Department.

Investigators said there is no indication that drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.

The identity of the man who died has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Temporary road closures remained in effect Monday while investigators processed the scene. Motorists were advised to avoid the area until the investigation is completed.
