The Cleveland Browns are finalizing a blockbuster trade that will send star defensive end Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for pass rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round draft pick and additional draft compensation, according to ESPN.
Garrett, a two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year and seven-time Pro Bowler, is coming off a season in which he set the league’s single-season sack record.
The Rams reportedly pursued Garrett for months despite Cleveland’s public stance that he was not available. Negotiations intensified after the NFL draft, with the Browns insisting any deal include Verse, the Rams’ 2024 first-round pick.
Cleveland is expected to gain long-term roster flexibility, significant draft capital and salary relief, while Los Angeles adds one of football’s premier defensive players as it continues an aggressive roster-building strategy ahead of Super Bowl LXI, which will be played at SoFi Stadium in February 2027. Garrett is under contract through the 2030 season.
