A stretch of Highway 223 in Kern County closed Thursday after a big rig overturned near General Beale Road, Caltrans said.

They said the highway is fully closed at the crash site, with traffic being diverted westbound at Towerline Road and eastbound at Highway 58.

Officials did not immediately release details about injuries or what caused the crash.

There is no estimated time to reopen the roadway, Caltrans said.
