What began as a house fire response in northeast Visalia on Wednesday afternoon turned into an unexpected act of kindness that helped salvage a child’s birthday celebration.

Visalia firefighters were called to an attic fire around 2:15 p.m. Crews contained the blaze, preventing injuries and ensuring no families were displaced, officials said on social media.

After confirming the fire was fully extinguished, firefighters took additional steps beyond the emergency response. They cleaned up the affected area and helped prepare the home for a birthday party that had been planned before the incident, the Visalia Fire Department said.

The Visalia Firefighters Association also joined in, providing pizza and a gift for the birthday boy.

The effort transformed what could have been a stressful day into a celebration, showing what fire officials described as a commitment not only to public safety but to community care.
