A 41-year-old woman from Turlock was killed Monday night in a solo rollover crash in Merced County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at about 7:44 p.m. near Meadow Drive and West Lane, where officers found a pickup truck that had overturned and an adult female driver who had been ejected from the vehicle, CHP said. Emergency personnel performed CPR, but the woman died from her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said the woman was driving a 2002 Ford Ranger westbound on Meadow Drive, west of West Lane, at an unknown speed when the truck veered onto the north dirt shoulder.
The driver overcorrected, crossed both lanes of traffic and entered a dry canal on the south shoulder, where the truck struck the canal bank, overturned and ejected the driver, authorities said.
The crash remains under investigation, and authorities said it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors.
