California Highway Patrol officers in Fresno arrested an impaired driver who was found passed out in the driver’s seat while parked in the middle of a roadway, authorities said Tuesday.

The driver was determined to be over three times the legal alcohol limit, according to the California Highway Patrol. Officers said the situation blocked traffic and posed a serious safety risk.

CHP used the incident to remind drivers that choosing a sober ride home can prevent dangerous and avoidable situations. Authorities urged motorists to plan ahead and avoid driving while impaired.

“Drive sober. Get home safe,” CHP-Fresno said in a statement.
