The California Highway Patrol says the right three lanes of southbound Interstate 5 at Grapevine Road are closed following a multiple-vehicle crash on Monday.
Emergency personnel are on scene, authorities said.
Drivers in the area are urged to slow down, maintain safe distances, limit distractions, wear seat belts, and ensure vehicle tires and windshield wipers are in good working order.
CHP warned that even a small amount of water on the roadway can cause hydroplaning at speeds above 55 mph, and visibility is limited in the Grapevine.
Motorists are advised to turn on headlights and drive cautiously.
