A driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI after crashing into an embankment near Highway 99 in Fowler on Saturday, police said.
Officers responded around Fowler Avenue and Fresno Street, where they found a vehicle that had veered off the road and nearly entered the southbound lanes of the freeway, according to the Fowler Police Department.
Investigators determined the driver was headed south on Fowler Avenue when they failed to stop at a stop sign, struck a curb, went through a fence and launched into the embankment before colliding with a freeway barrier.
No other vehicles were involved, and the driver suffered only minor injuries, police said.
The driver was treated and medically cleared before being arrested on DUI charges.
