Original Story
Authorities are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision on Highway 168 that killed a motorcyclist Thursday night.
California Highway Patrol dispatchers received reports of a vehicle-versus-motorcycle crash at approximately 11:58 p.m. west of Shields Avenue, CHP said.
Authorities said a 27-year-old man riding a Kawasaki motorcycle in the middle lane was struck from behind by a Hyundai Elantra traveling at a high rate of speed.
The impact ejected the motorcyclist onto the windshield of the Hyundai.
The driver of the Hyundai continued westbound, pushing the unoccupied motorcycle, before stopping at McKinley Avenue and fleeing on foot, CHP said.
The motorcycle and rider eventually came to rest in the roadway, where the rider was struck by additional vehicles and pronounced dead at the scene.
Fresno Police officers, including air support, assisted CHP in searching for the suspect, who remains at large.
Investigators said all other drivers involved have cooperated with authorities.
