Kern County Wildfire Burns North of Bakersfield, 175 Acres Scorched

A wildfire north of Bakersfield, dubbed the Granite Fire, has burned 175 acres and is 20% contained, with no reported injuries or structural damage as of Tuesday, June 24, 2025. (CalFire)

Firefighters are battling a wildfire that has burned 175 acres north of Bakersfield, officials reported in a statement on Tuesday.

Dubbed the Granite Fire, the blaze began early Tuesday morning east of Oilfield Road and north of James Road, according to a CalFire report.

As of 8:13 a.m., the fire was 20% contained.

No injuries or damage to structures have been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Kern County Fire Department is operating in command to contain the blaze.
