A Madera man was sentenced Monday to more than 21 years in federal prison for trafficking fentanyl and methamphetamine, federal prosecutors said.
Emilio Hernandez Yesca, 31, was sentenced to 21 years and 10 months by U.S. District Judge Jennifer L. Thurston, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith.
Prosecutors said Hernandez and co-defendant Jorge Perez, 28, also of Madera, were at the center of a drug trafficking organization that operated from October 2020 to March 2021.
The pair conspired to distribute thousands of fentanyl pills and multiple pounds of methamphetamine.
They sold 1,400 fentanyl pills in two separate drug deals in 2020 and a pound of meth in early 2021.
On March 2, 2021, law enforcement stopped the two men in a car as they were delivering 5,000 fentanyl pills and 3 pounds of meth. A loaded firearm was found under the driver’s seat.
Perez was sentenced to 11 years and 10 months in prison on Jan. 27.
