A Fresno home was destroyed in a two-alarm fire early Friday morning that left one firefighter injured and a family of eight displaced, authorities said.

Just before 1 a.m., Fresno Fire crews responded to a house fire near Capitola and Reese avenues, marking the second fire they battled overnight.

Engine 14 was first on scene and reported heavy flames coming from the front of the house and the roof.

Due to the intensity of the blaze, a second alarm was requested to bring in additional resources. All four adults and four children inside the home escaped safely after being alerted by working smoke alarms, fire officials said.

During the firefight, the roof collapsed. One firefighter was injured and transported to a hospital for treatment.

The home was declared a total loss.
