A recent NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll reveals a divided nation as President Trump approaches his 100th day in office.

The survey, conducted from April 21–23, shows that 45% believe Trump deserves an F for his performance, while 23% would give him an A.

Trump’s approval rating has dipped to 42%, with only 36% of independents expressing approval. This marks a significant decline since his inauguration, largely attributed to concerns over his handling of the economy and tariffs. The president’s economic approval rating has hit a record low of 39%.

The poll indicates growing skepticism about Trump’s policies, with 64% expecting grocery prices to rise and 57% believing that tariffs will harm the U.S. economy. A majority (60%) hold Trump responsible for the current economic situation.

On immigration, a slim majority (52%) now disapproves of Trump’s approach. The administration’s handling of the Kilmar Abrego Garcia deportation case has also drawn criticism, with only 35% approving.

Despite these challenges, Trump maintains strong support from his base. Two-thirds of Republicans believe tariffs will benefit the economy, demonstrating their faith in the president’s economic strategy.

61% feel Trump is rushing to move his agenda forward. However, an overwhelming 85% believe the president should follow court orders, even if he disagrees with them.
