Irish attorney Blinne Ni Ghralaigh presented compelling evidence at the International Court of Justice detailing Israel’s systematic violations of United Nations privileges in Palestinian territories, the Middle East Eye reported.
The presentation outlined multiple categories of alleged violations, including forcible takeovers of UN schools and the shuttering of UN premises by Israeli authorities. According to Ni Ghralaigh, Israel has also failed to protect UN facilities from attacks by Israeli civilians.
The lawyer highlighted severe restrictions on UN personnel, with Palestinian staff facing movement limitations and international staff routinely denied access to Gaza. These actions, she argued, demonstrate a pattern of systematically obstructing UN operations in the occupied territories.
Ni Ghralaigh stated Israel blocks delivery of UN food supplies and medical equipment, UN warehouses and distribution centers have been deliberately targeted, and convoys face repeated attacks and delays.
The presentation also addressed allegations of military misuse of UN facilities, claiming Israeli forces have converted UN buildings into military bases. UN schools and shelters have reportedly been attacked in every major Gaza offensive since 2009, with UN-protected healthcare facilities repeatedly struck.
Ni Ghralaigh framed these actions as clear breaches of the 1946 Convention on UN Privileges, arguing they demonstrate a pattern spanning more than a decade and show systematic disregard for international humanitarian law.
The case continues as part of broader genocide risk proceedings against Israel at the ICJ.
