A 22-year-old man was arrested Wednesday following a stabbing near 11th and C streets in Madera, the Madera Police Department said in a statement.

At about 12:20 p.m., police responded to a report of an assault involving a knife.
A 41-year-old male victim was found with multiple stab wounds and was transported to a local trauma center for treatment.

After speaking with witnesses, police were able to identify the suspect, Joel Martin Santiago, 22.
Following hours of surveillance, Santiago was arrested at his apartment.

Authorities confirmed the incident was isolated and involved two parties who were familiar with each other.
