The Fresno State football team received a commitment on Friday from former NFL quarterback and Hall of Famer Kurt Warner’s son Elijah from the transfer portal.

Elijah Warner is a junior quarterback and had stints at Temple and Rice.

Other future Bulldogs who signed with the program in the last 24 hours are wide receivers Jayon Farrar (Ventura College) and Fresno’s Josiah Ayon (Western Colorado), and defensive lineman Michael Jordan Jr. (Northern Colorado).

Warner’s Journey to Fresno State

Warner went to Temple, starting as a true freshman, and played for two seasons before heading to Rice in 2024, where he also started. He left the Owls after they fired head coach Mike Bloomgren eight games into the season.

He has one year of eligibility remaining, plus a redshirt season as an option. He passed for 2,710 yards and 17 touchdowns this past season. With Temple, he accumulated 6,104 passing yards and 41 touchdowns.

Warner will compete for the starting job against redshirt freshman Jayden Mandal and sophomore Joshua Wood. The spot became open when Mikey Keene left Fresno State for Michigan.

Farrar Commits to the Bulldogs

Farrar, a sophomore, was named a first-team unanimous all-conference player at the JUCO level with the Pirates in 2024. He had 47 receptions for 542 yards and nine touchdowns. He signed with the Bulldogs on Thursday.

At Western Colorado, Ayon had 44 receptions for 651 yards and nine touchdowns in 2024.
