Robert Baer, a former CIA case officer with extensive experience in the Middle East, believes an Israeli ground invasion of Lebanon is imminent, News Nation reported.

“The Israelis are going to go in. I can see it coming,” Baer said. He cited recent explosions involving pagers and VHF radios used by Hezbollah operatives in Lebanon as indicative of an impending invasion.

“Netanyahu has promised that he’s going to go in, and I think it’s going to be a ground invasion. And it’s going to be very destructive, just as destructive as it was in Gaza,” Baer told Chris Cuomo on NewsNation’s “CUOMO” on Wednesday.

Baer noted that the explosions of booby-trapped pagers and radios this week were less damaging than potential bombings aimed at destroying Hezbollah communications, which could have caused more civilian casualties.

Baer also expressed concern that the conflict could escalate, potentially involving Iran and the Persian Gulf. “Who knows where it goes from there,” he said.
