All Restrictions Lifted as Fresno County's Boone Fire Is 83% Contained

CalFire reported Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024, that the 17,600-acre wildfire is 83% contained, with firefighters focusing on repair efforts as evacuation orders are lifted and dry, windy weather conditions are expected in the coming days. (CalFire)

As of Thursday morning, CalFire reported that the 17,600-acre Boone Fire near Coalinga is 83% contained.

According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, all evacuation orders and warnings have been lifted, and previously closed roads have reopened.

Fire personnel have been reduced to 871, operating with 54 engines, 15 water tenders, one helicopter, 12 bulldozers, and 17 hand crews. That’s down from 1,615 personnel on Tuesday.`

The Current Situation

Firefighters are continuing repair efforts and reinforcing control lines as the fire slowly smolders, particularly in steep, rugged terrain.

Clear weather is forecast for today, with a slight cooling trend expected in the coming days. Wind gusts could reach up to 35 mph by tonight.
