Reedley Woman Killed in Crosswalk Is Identified

Juanita Ayala, 77, of Reedley, died while crossing a street on Tuesday morning, according to the Reedley Police Department.

The Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office identified Ayala on Wednesday.

Ayala was in a crosswalk of 10th and G streets when she was struck by a vehicle.

Emergency responders arrived and transported Ayala to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, where she died.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with law enforcement, authorities said.

Preliminary investigations indicate that drugs or alcohol are not believed to have been factors in Ayala’s death.
