The Fresno Fire Department has identified a suspect believed to be responsible for starting a grass fire in southwest Fresno on Thursday and who may be involved in several others.

Fire investigators are looking for 67-year-old Curtis Carlton Evans. They suspect Evans of starting a grassfire on Cornelia Avenue between Clinton and McKinley avenues. An eyewitness spotted him there, according to Fresno Fire. His vehicle also has been spotted at eight fires in total and he may be involved in all of them, authorities said.

The fire Thursday threatened several homes, according to the fire department, but crews extinguished the blaze before it reached the residences.

Investigators believe Evans drives a 2003 Lexus ES, oasis-green pearl in color, with California license plate 5BSJ454.
