There were a lot of happy kids at Fresno City Council President Tyler Maxwell’s holiday toy drive at Club One Casino on Wednesday night.
About 800 toys —including bikes, scooters, and Lego sets — were collected and many of them were handed out. Over the next few days, the remainder will be delivered to children in participating organizations.
The recipients include foster youth at CASA of Fresno and Madera County, children from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central California, the Marjaree Mason Center, Fresno State’s TRIO student support services program, and Del Mar Elementary School. In addition, children with special needs at Exceptional Parents Unlimited received gifts.
“Our 3rd Annual Holiday Toy Drive’s success is a testament to the incredible generosity and community spirit that defines our city,” said Maxwell in a news release. “Witnessing the outpour of support from neighbors, community partners, and the tireless efforts of everyone involved has truly warmed my heart. The joy these 800 toys will bring to children in need reflects the compassion that binds us together during the Christmas season.”
Those in attendance also were treated to the lighting ceremony for the casino’s new “ClubONEderland holiday experience.” The family-friendly holiday attraction will continue through mid-January, said Club One Casino President Kyle Kirkland.
