In a stark display of defiance, an American military base in Iraq was targeted by a rocket attack just moments before President Joe Biden addressed the nation. The attack occurred on Thursday evening, as Biden was preparing to discuss the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and America’s support for Israel.

The U.S. base, situated near Baghdad airport, was reportedly targeted by several rockets. The Daily Mail reported that an anti-rocket system was deployed to counter the attack, but it remains unclear if there were any casualties or damage.

This incident is the latest in a series of attacks on U.S. forces in the Middle East. On Wednesday, three drone attacks were reported on two separate U.S. military bases, according to Fox News. The Ain al-Asad air base in Western Iraq, which houses American troops, was targeted by two drones, resulting in minor injuries. A third attack was launched on a base in northern Iraq, with no injuries reported.

The Associated Press also reported an attack on a military base in southern Syria, where U.S. troops are stationed to train forces against the Islamic State group. One drone was shot down, while another caused minor injuries.

While it is not confirmed that Iran is behind these attacks, the country is known to support Hamas and is linked to the groups behind these attacks, as per the Daily Mail. Despite this, President Biden made no significant mention of Iran in his speech. Instead, he announced an urgent budget request to Congress to fund America’s national security needs and support critical partners, including Israel and Ukraine.
