Scottish soccer fans have come under fire for displaying pro-Palestinian banners during a match, following a deadly attack by Hamas that claimed the lives of hundreds of Israeli civilians. The death toll in Israel has risen to 200 since the onslaught began.

Fans’ Controversial Display

The banners, which read “free Palestine” and “victory to the resistance,” were unfurled during a recent game. This act of solidarity with Palestine by soccer fans in Scotland, a common occurrence, has been criticized due to the timing, coming just hours after the deadly attacks in Israel.

Former Player Condemns Fans’ Actions

Former player Nir Bitton, who now plays for Maccabi Tel Aviv, an Israel soccer league, was among those who condemned the fans’ actions. Bitton, who left the Scottish league after nine years, accused the fans of being “brainwashed and biased” and supporting a terrorist organization. He expressed his disapproval on Instagram, sharing an image of the banners with the caption “Shame on you.”

The Green Brigade, the group of fans responsible for the banners, faced a barrage of criticism on social media, with many accusing them of supporting war and terrorism. However, they also received some support, with some fans expressing gratitude for their stance.
