Brittany Jacob says she is leaving ABC 30, and television news altogether.

Fresno media’s loss is the business world’s gain.

“I’m hanging up my news hat. WOW. I said it, and it’s really starting to sink in. I’m going to ‘bury the lede’ here, so stick with me …” she wrote on Twitter. “I have been accepted into the prestigious University of California Berkeley’s Haas Business program to earn my Masters of Business Administration (MBA), full-time, on a FULL RIDE as a Consortium Fellow. GOD IS GOOD.”

The Houston native arrived at ABC 30 in September 2020 after working at KFVS-12 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Jacob’s last day is next week.

Fresno State Grad is Now TV News Reporter

Viviana Yvonne

Weeks after graduating from Fresno State, Viviana Yvonne is the newest reporter for KSEE-24/CBS 47. She made her on-air debut last week.

Yvonne worked as a student journalist at the university’s TV station and newspaper — where she finished third in a writing contest by the California News Publishers Association (as Yvonne Hinojos). She also finished an internship with ABC 30.

She will work primarily as the morning show reporter.

‘Sunday Morning Matters’ on Hiatus

Public affairs show “Sunday Morning Matters” on KSEE-24 has not aired a new episode since June 4, and will continue to be on “hiatus” for the next few weeks.

The show will return with new episodes in August.

Between the summer slowdown in politics, NBC sports programming in the 8 a.m. timeslot (tennis, golf, soccer, auto racing), and a much-needed break for host Alexan Balekian, the show is taking a break.

The one-hour “Sunday Morning Matters” is the only locally-produced TV show that covers local elected leaders and newsmakers.

When NBC Sports isn’t taking over, “Inside California Politics” — a Nexstar-produced show syndicated throughout the state — airs. A special edition aired on Thursday night, interviewing three major contenders for the 2024 U.S. Senate race — Adam Schiff, Katie Porter, and Barbara Lee.

Help Wanted

A check on local news jobs available:

Nexstar (KSEE-24/CBS 47) is seeking a digital producer. Pay starts at $17 an hour. There are also other producer and reporter positions listed.

ABC 30 (owned by the network) is seeking an anchor/reporter, and weather anchor. The jobs pay up to nearly $75,000 a year.

Sinclair (KMPH Fox 26) is seeking a news producer, paying up to $21.40 an hour.

Senior Reporter
Curiosity drives David Taub. The award-winning journalist might be shy, but feels mighty with a recorder in his hand. He doesn't see it his job to "hold public officials accountable," but does see it to provide readers (and voters) the information needed to make intelligent choices. Taub has been honored with several writing awards from the California News Publishers Association. He's just happy to have his stories read. Joining GV Wire in 2016, Taub covers politics, government and elections, mainly in the Fresno/Clovis area. He also writes columns about local eateries (Appetite for Fresno), pro wrestling (Off the Bottom Rope), and media (Media Man). Prior to joining the online news source, Taub worked as a radio producer for KMJ and PowerTalk 96.7 in Fresno. He also worked as an assignment editor for KCOY-TV in Santa Maria, California, and KSEE-TV in Fresno. He has also worked behind the scenes for several sports broadcasts, including the NCAA basketball tournament, and the Super Bowl. When not spending time with his family, Taub loves to officially score Fresno Grizzlies games. Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, Taub is a die-hard Giants and 49ers fan. He graduated from the University of Michigan with dual degrees in communications and political science. Go Blue! You can contact David at 559-492-4037 or at Send an Email
